The Annual Monsoon Cricket League, held at Fr. Agnel Grounds in Vashi, saw participation from over 20 local clubs. DY Cricket Club from Seawoods emerged as early favorites after their thrilling last-over win against Palm Beach Titans in the opening fixture on June 10.
Schools Make Headlines
In the Under-16 Navi Mumbai Inter-School Championship, hosted by Ryan International School, Nerul, Delhi Public School (DPS), Nerul lifted the trophy after defeating St. Xavier’s, Airoli in a low-scoring but intense final match. Riyan Sharma, the DPS captain, scored 52 runs and picked up 3 wickets, earning him the Man of the Match and Player of the Tournament titles.
Women’s Cricket Gets Spotlight
The Navi Mumbai Women’s Cricket Development Camp, conducted at Kopar Khairane Cricket Ground, wrapped up on June 28 with over 50 girls participating in training, practice matches, and fitness drills. Organized by Thane District Cricket Association, the camp aims to prepare female cricketers for the upcoming state-level selections.

Local clubs have requested better maintenance of pitches and practice nets, especially with the monsoon season making grounds soggy. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is reportedly reviewing proposals for covered practice nets in Vashi and Belapur.
